October Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Jo Bradley for being named the Athlete of the Month for October. Jo has continued to improve her own health and fitness since she joined our gym. She is constantly looking to make herself better and does an amazing job of motivating others to do their best to. When Jo is in class we have more fun, thank you Jo for making our gym a better place.

Please tell us about yourself.

I have 3 kids that make me look good and two dogs that look good on their own. I love my family, community and my country. I cherish good friends, good food and a good laugh. I work, go to school, hit the gym and sometimes I play in between. I am lucky that the people I am around are so amazing and inspire me to be better every day. It makes working hard much easier. I am in a bit of a shock at this, crazy sauce.

When did you become a member at Defiance West?

July 2016

What made you join Defiance West and why do you do it now?

The gym I was at was closing and I had heard great things about Cory so we came over. I do it now not only because Cory is great, all the trainers are great and people let me be me.

What were your thoughts after your first workout?

We did Snatches and Cory said we hardly ever do snatches when I joined, so I thought, I like this place. I knew this gym was for me.

What is your athletic background?

I played basketball in high school and did track, nothing stellar. I do love to fish though.

What is your favorite movement or workout?

Murph, the constant reminder of what others give. It pushes me.

What is your least favorite?

I am still learning to embrace running (is that positive enough?).

What has been your favorite or proudest moment since joining?

Deadlift, I can pick up and put down that bar without dropping it never thought I would get that heavy lift worked out. Thank you.

How has Defiance West changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness?

I eat like a healthy person and I don’t drink alcohol like a fish anymore. I am much more focused on my fitness journey and I have seriously reaped rewards from the food challenges. Defiance west has helped me learn to push myself and choose my focus, not push someone else’s focus on me. It is my fitness journey and DW helps me meet my fitness potential.

What are your fitness goals for this year?

Pull ups, double under and minimum 4 days week at the gym

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I played the trumpet for years.

What advice would you give to people looking to get started at our gym.

Be patient and listen to your body and coaches, you won’t regret it. You will get hooked and Reap the rewards.
