2017 Gym Updates

Hello Friends,

As we are starting the year off we want to look ahead to see what we have in store for 2017. Last year was a great year for so many of our members and we could not be happier with the inspiring group of people that keep showing up to our gym. We are so grateful to have been a part of your life this year, and cannot wait to see what 2017 has in store for your fitness, and your lives.

As the new year tends to be the time of reflection and looking forward, we have taken a good hard look at our business, and how we can continue to offer our private training experience in a group setting, style of coaching. In order to accomplish this, and keep our high level of commitment to safety, education, and progress, we will be increasing our membership rates. We have been at our current rates for almost two years and we are confident that we are offering a better product than when we started.

Effective February 1st, All memberships will increase $15. Our regular monthly membership will be $150, our couple rate will be $240, and our student rate will be $105. (Everyone will need to fill out a new Electronic Funds Transfer sheet with your updated rate this week). We will continue to not have contracts as we feel it holds us accountable to continue to provide the best service and we don’t want you to feel trapped. We only want people that want to come to our gym to be here... positive people and positive energy spreads.

If you believe this places a surprise burden on your budget, you may prepay for up to 2 months in advance at your current rate. This payment will be due before February 1st.

If you feel like your financial situation warrants a different arrangement from everyone else in the gym, you can email Cory at cory@defiancegym.com.

We have been happy to continue to add to the gym whether it be new equipment or new class times as we grow. As the growth continues we are committed to continue to add more times so we can accommodate everyone and have the necessary equipment for the whole group.

Speaking of classes: we are offering yoga on Wednesdays at 7:30 am and Saturdays at 8:00 am. We have been charging $15/month for our current members and with the rate increase we will no longer be charging extra. We want everyone to be able to go to yoga. Yoga will be included in all of our memberships and we encourage you to go as much as you can.

Attendance has been lower recently (I know the holidays throw everything off) but we want to keep yoga go ing as it has been very beneficial for the people attending, including ourselves. If there is another time that would work better for you please reach out and we will do our best to make it so the most people can attend.

A couple housekeeping items:

  1. Please continue (or start for a few of you) signing up for classes. It helps us to know who is coming and we are continuing to work on making it possible for multiple coaches to be here when classes get really big. (5:30 am members you need to sign up before 9 pm the day before so we can be prepared).

  2. Everyone needs to be to class on time. I know certain situations cause us to be late occasionally but if you are consistently late then you need to make a plan to leave earlier. It is not fair to everyone that is here on time and most importantly you are missing out on the warm up which is essential to get us moving properly and staying safe going into our workouts.

  3. Please continue to handle our equipment with care. Empty barbells should not be dropped. Please pick up boxes or benches, instead of dragging them when moving them. This will help us be able to invest in new equipment and improvements for the gym, and not have to spend as much on replacing equipment.

  4. If you have not heard you can now track your workouts with the ZenPlanner app. It is easy to use and in the future when we repeat lifts or workouts it will be easy to find your old numbers. It is the same app you should be using to sign up for class. If you need help setting this up or using the app please let us know.

  5. We couldn’t be happier with the progress of the gym in the last 2 years (as of April) and are excited to see the gym continue to get better in the next year. Things to look forward to: Nutritional Coaching (Cierra has been working hard on going to school for this and should be ready to go by mid year), more class times, and possible expansion if we need it. I have said before, some classes have been getting full and if we need to we will find a way to get everyone in here; whether that means expanding our current space or finding a bigger location we will.
