June Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Lyndee Zelenka for being named the Athlete of the Month for June. Lyndee can crush some workouts, not only does she have excellent conditioning, she is also very strong, she sets the bar for us daily. Lyndee is one of our best athletes but is still always trying to learn more, continues to push herself to get better and has consistently shown improvement. She is very humble and we feel fortunate to have her at our gym!

When did you become a member at Defiance West?

I became a member at Defiance West right after they opened and have been coming ever since.

What made you join Defiance West and why do you do it now?

I joined Defiance West after being a member at the Glenwood Springs location. After knowing that Cory and Cierra were opening it, I was more excited. I had met them prior and had worked out with them in a previous gym. I do it now because I love the workouts and the atmosphere. I enjoy pushing myself through the workouts with all of the other enthusiastic members at Defiance West.

What were your thoughts after your first workout?

My first workout was awesome and kept me hooked. It was hard and those are the kind of workouts I enjoy.

What is your athletic background?

I started gymnastics when I was seven years old and competed upper levels and trained through level 10 throughout high school. I was also a sprinter in track my last three years of high school and attended state for relays and open events each year.

What is your favorite movement or workout?

Some of my favorite movements are burpees and pull ups.

What is your least favorite?

One of my least favorites is rowing for long distances.

What has been your favorite or proudest moment since joining?

I have gained so many new skills since joining, but my proudest moment is continuous because I keep continuing to get stronger.

How has Defiance West changed your life, lifestyle, and level of fitness?

Defiance West keeps my life in check. It is one of the things I do that I enjoy the most. It keeps me happy and has increased my level of fitness in and out of the gym. It allows me to be better in all areas of my other activities.

What are your fitness goals for this year?

My fitness goals are to be consistent in attending class and continue to improve.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know I have a pet guinea pig and a sweet puppy named Roxy and Ruka. J

What advice would you give to people looking to get started at our gym?

Don’t wait to get started. The sooner the better! Your life will change in many positive ways and you’ll have lots of fun!
